The year-on-year industrial production index reached 105.7%. Sales in industry at constant prices (the year 2000) grew by 9.0%.

Industrial production increased most in the following CZ-NACE activities:
- ‘manufacture of machinery and equipment’ (parts for air conditioning machines, machinery for preparation or manufacture of food or drink)
- ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (motor vehicles, gear boxes)
- ‘mining and quarrying except of energy producing materials’ (kaolin, gravel, pebbles)
- ‘manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products’ (derv fuel, refinery feedstock).

The largest decreases in industrial production were recorded for:
- ‘manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products’ (wired sheets of cast or rolled glass, refractory bricks)
- ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’ (sports footwear, excluding waterproof footwear; services incidental to footwear manufacture)
- ‘manufacture of food products; beverages and tobacco’ (work for hire in manufacture of dairy products, fresh or chilled cuts of beef and veal)

The industrial production grew in all main industrial groupings, rising most in ‘consumer durables’ (+13.0%), ‘intermediate goods’ (+8.7%), ‘energy’ (+5.5%), ‘capital goods’ (+3.5%) and ‘consumer non-durables’ (+0.5%).

High growth in ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (+20.9%), ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ (+20.3%) and ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (+17.7%) contributed to the increase of total sales in the industry.

Direct export sales of industrial enterprises rose by 19.3% at constant prices (+15.0% at current prices), and their share in total sales of industrial enterprises stood at 50.2% (current prices). The greatest increases in direct export sales at constant prices were recorded for ‘mining and quarrying except energy producing materials’ (+28.2%), ‘manufacture of machinery and equipment’ (+23.2%), ‘manufacturing n.e.c.’ (+22.4%), and ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (+21.3%). On the other hand, these sales dropped most in ‘electricity, gas and water supply’ (-17.3%) and ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’ (-1.5%).

Industrial foreign-controlled enterprises raised their sales by 16.3% at constant prices (+13.8% at current prices), and their proportion in total sales stood at 54.9% (current prices). Their direct export sales increased by 15.2% at current prices (+21.2% at constant prices) and accounted for 73.4% of the total sales of these enterprises.

The average number of employees in the industry went up by 0.9% (+9.8 thousand persons) year-on-year. The employment increased in ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’, ‘manufacture of wood and wood products’, ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ and ‘manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products’; it decreased most in ‘electricity, gas and water supply’, ‘mining and quarrying, except of energy producing materials’ and ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’,.

The average monthly nominal wage amounted to CZK 17 582, rising by 3.8% year-on-year. The average hourly wage increased by 4.4% and stood at CZK 120.80. Labour productivity (sales per employee) grew by 8.0% and productivity per hour by 8.6%. Unit wage costs were 3.9% down.

New orders in industrial enterprises in selected CZ-NACE activities were worth CZK 119.5 billion (current prices), of which non-domestic orders accounted for CZK 80.6 billion. The year-on-year index of new orders in total was 104.3%, of which the one of new non-domestic orders was 111.9%. The highest volumes of new non-domestic orders were signed in ‘manufacture of machinery and equipment’ (133.5%), ‘manufacture of office machinery and computers’ (130.4%), ‘manufacture of wearing apparel; dressing and dyeing of fur’ (index 121.5%) and ‘manufacture of chemicals and chemical products’ (index 120.5%). The volume of new non-domestic orders decreased most in ‘manufacture of medical, precision and optical instruments, watches and clocks‘ (index 65.7%), ‘manufacturing of other transport equipment’ (index 78.0%) and ‘manufacture of basic metals’ (index 90.9%).
