Construction orders - 1. quarter of 2006

The total value of new construction orders in the Czech Republic reached CZK 55.9 billion in Q1 2006. This figure was up by 24.7% year-on-year. At the end of Q1 2006 construction enterprises had 17.5 thousand orders contracted amounting to CZK 225.1 billion in total.
New construction orders

       In Q1 2006 construction enterprises concluded 15 950 new construction orders in the total value of CZK 55.9 billion, which was up by 24.7% year-on-year. A change in the structure was apparent due to a marked increase of new orders for civil engineering works.
The value of new orders by type of construction was:
- up by 60.9% (contribution 22.5 percentage points) for civil engineering works;
- up by 17.6% (contribution 2.6 p.p.) for residential buildings;
- up by 15.2% (contribution 0.4 p.p.) for water management works;
- up by 5.6% (contribution 1.2 p.p.) for non-residential buildings not designed for production;
- down by 6.6% (contribution -1.1 p.p.) for non-residential buildings designed for production.
 
The rise in the value of new orders for civil engineering works by 60.9% was affected to a certain extent by the low comparable basis of Q1 2005. In Q1 2006 were concluded orders for financially demanding construction works of mainly road  and highway infrastructure.
On the other hand, the decrease in the value of new orders for non-residential buildings designed for production was affected by the high comparable basis of Q1 2005.
The average value of a new construction order in the Czech Republic reached CZK 3.5 million (CZK 7.0 million per public order and CZK 2.0 million per private order) and was by 19.4% higher than in Q1 2005.
Out of the total volume of new orders, public orders amounted to CZK 32.9 billion (58.9%) and private orders to CZK 23.0 billion (41.1%). By number of orders, private orders prevailed and made up 70.6% of the total of 15 950 new orders.
    
Orders cancelled

102 orders worth CZK 0.3 billion were cancelled in Q1 2006.
 
The value of construction order

There is a direct relation between the value of construction order and the size of construction enterprise. Big construction orders are given mainly to large construction enterprises that are able to carry out entire construction at the required technological level.
 
Progress schedule for completion of construction orders in the CR
           
Out of the total number of 17.1 thousand orders concluded, 94.7% will be completed within a year, which is roughly the same percentage as in Q1 2005. This indicator is above 90% in the long term. Within 6 months will be completed 77.7% of all orders concluded at the end of Q1 2006.
            From the total value of construction orders (CZK 213.9 billion), 75.1% will be completed within a year, which is by 5.4 percentage points more than in Q1 2005. Within 6 months will be completed 47.7% of the total value of orders concluded.
