This monthly publication and the quarterly publication “Guests at Tourism Accommodation Establishments – Detailed Results” have replaced the original seasonal publication CR 7-99. The latter covering the fourth quarter also contains annual data.
This publication contains data produced by a monthly statistical survey CR 1-12, in 2002 completed by tables with data for December 2001 that were imputed and grossed, in order to achieve better comparability, the same way used for the whole year 2002. The tables show data that are aggregates of the processed data from presented questionnaires, imputed data for non-response and grossed data for establishments outside the sample. The resulting data disintegrated into arrivals and overnight stays by tourists’ country of origin are year-on-year affected, among other things, by changes in the accommodation establishments measured, as particular establishments may be oriented on special customers, which cannot be taken account of in the sampling scheme. To get as best consistency of the grossed data as possible, accommodation establishments of four-star and five-star hotels, establishments with over 99 beds or 499 places for tents and caravans, and other special accommodation establishments (balneological establishments, establishments designed for agro-tourism, student hostels) are included in the survey every year.
The total number of permanent beds in an accommodation establishment is used to calculate gross bed occupancy; the calculation of net bed occupancy is based on the number of beds that were actually available. Similarly, room occupancy rests only on those available to guests.
The quarterly publication “Guests at Collective Accommodation Establishments in the 4th quarter of 2002 – Detailed Results“ (publication code 9207-02) presented more detailed data. This publication will also contain updated figures for individual months of 2002 reflecting retrospective corrections made.
The monthly publication in this form is released in 2003 for the last time. From April 2003 on, a table will be available – at the Internet and CZSO Information Service – with preliminary monthly figures for the Czech Republic broken down into arrivals and overnight stays of domestic and foreign tourists in collective accommodation establishments. Starting with data of January 2003, final results for individual months of a given quarter will be presented in a quarterly publication “Guests at Collective Tourist Accommodation Establishments – Basic Results” (publication code 9206-03), to be released in June, September and December 2003 and March 2004.
