Capacity of Collective Tourist Accommodation Establishments

Methodology

Contents

Statistical survey CR04 on the capacity of accommodation establishments as at 31 December 2003 (the questionnaire, incl. explanatory notes, is attached) covered tourist collective accommodation establishments operated by legal or natural persons on a commercial basis.

Collective accommodation establishments were covered all, whereas individual private tourism accommodation was no more surveyed in 2002.

The survey is based on a specific register of accommodation establishments and accommodation establishments report the state on 31 December or on the day when they ceased to operate.

Data in the tables have been taken from presented questionnaires and include data for units having failed to report.

This publication uses nomenclature CZ-NUTS.

NUTS 3 – Regions (so-called “higher territorial administrative units”)

Data on the capacity of balneological establishments are already included in data on the total capacity. As recommended by the WTO and Eurostat, curative balneological institutions have been included among tourist accommodation establishments.

Also persons working in catering are included in the total number of workers in accommodation establishments providing also catering services (restaurants, night clubs, etc.). Similarly, persons providing balneological services (incl. medical personnel) are included in the total number of workers in balneological establishments.

Places for tents and caravans in this publication show the actual number of open-air places intended for tents and caravans, no more multiplied by four (persons able to be put up in a tent).

Due to individual data protection, some of the tables do not contain all data (letter „i“ instead), or data are not broken down deeper (this applies particularly to the Středočeský, Jihočeský, Plzeňský, Karlovarský, Pardubický, Vysočina and Jihomoravský Regions).
