New construction orders
In Q3 2007 observed construction enterprises booked 22 347 new construction orders (down by 11.3% year-on-year) in a total value of CZK 64.6 billion (down by 21.1%).
By type of construction, the value of new orders was:
- up by 1.9% (contribution 0.3 percentage points) for residential buildings;
- down by 58.7% (contribution -1.4 p.p.) for water management works;
- down by 39.6% (contribution -0.1 p.p.) for other work;
- down by 31.8% (contribution -7.0 p.p.) for non-residential buildings not designed for production;
- down by 29.7% (contribution -10.8 p.p.) for civil engineering works;
- down by 11.8% (contribution -1.9 p.p.) for non-residential buildings designed for production;
- down by 1.9% (contribution -0.2 p.p.) for repair and maintenance.
Increase in the value of new construction orders was recorded only for residential buildings. The biggest contribution to decrease in value of new construction orders was made by civil engineering works and non-residential buildings not designed for production, especially due to the high comparative basis because financially demanding orders for road and highway infrastructure and construction of office centres were booked in Q3 2006. In Q3 2007 delays still occurred in preparation
and financing of public civil engineering projects.
Average value per domestic new construction order was CZK 2.9 million (public order CZK 3.7 million, private order CZK 2.5 million), i.e. up by 11.0% on Q3 2006. Out of the total value of new construction orders, public orders made up CZK 29.1 billion (share 45.1%; decrease by 33.5% year-on-year), of which civil engineering works CZK 17.0 billion (share 58.5%; decrease by 34.7% year-on-year ). Private orders made up CZK 35.5 billion (share 54.9%; decrease by 6.7% year-on-year), of which building construction CZK 28.3 billion (share 79.7%; decrease by 4.9% year-on-year). By number of construction orders, private orders prevailed and accounted for 64.6% of the total number of new orders.
Construction orders by value and period of completion
The total value of domestic construction orders reached CZK 200.6 billion at the end of Q3 2007. In comparison to the end of Q2 2007, the value of domestic construction orders decreased by 5.9%.
In total, medium and large construction enterprises (100+ employees) accounted for 87.6% of the value of construction orders. Enterprises with 1000+ employees had the highest share (52.5%) in the total value of construction orders registered at the end of Q3 2007.
From the total of 18.6 thousand construction orders booked at the end of Q3 2007, 80.2% will be completed within 6 months and 94.0% within a year.
From the total value of construction orders (CZK 200.6 billion), 44.7% will be completed within 6 months and 69.2% within a year. The value of construction orders recorded on 30 September 2007 amounting to CZK 200.6 billion represents a more than eight-months’ reserve of work for construction enterprises. In comparison to the end of Q2 2007 the reserve of work slightly increased.
Orders cancelled
In Q3 2007, 142 construction orders worth CZK 1.0 billion were cancelled.
