Between the beginning of January and the end of October 2006 the planning and building control authorities granted a total of 112 220 building permits on the territory of the Czech Republic, which is 7 031 permits down on the corresponding period of 2005.
There were 62 518 building permits granted for buildings in total (i.e. + 47 year-on-year) of which residential buildings accounted for 41 998 permits (+ 1 238) and non-residential buildings for 20 520 ( 1 191).
The number of building permits granted for constructions for environmental protections was 21 027 which translates into a decrease of 6 721.
The number of building permits granted for other constructions amounted to 28 675, which is by 357 less than in the corresponding period of 2005.
Of the total 112 220 building permits, 58 532 was granted for new construction (52.2%) and 53 688 for renewals and enhancements (47.8%).
Territorially, rather high investment activities are expected in the Středočeský Region (18.4%), Jihomoravský Region (13.7%) and the Moravskoslezský Region (8.6%), which is in contrast to the lowest construction activities expected in the Karlovarský Region (2.9%), the Liberecký Region (3.6%) and Pardubický Region (4.1%).
There were 41 998 building permits granted for residential buildings: 15 558 of them for new construction and 26 440 for renewals and enhancements. Most of them were granted in the Středočeský Region (17.8%), the Jihomoravský Region (13.7%) and the Moravskoslezský Region (9.3%). 5 822 building permits issued on the territory of the capital city of Prague make up 13.9%, of which 3.0% account for new construction. 63.0% of the building permits granted of the total comes under renewals and enhancements.
The buildings, which were given a go-ahead for the start of construction from January till October, are supposed to provide 63 301 dwellings throughout the Czech Republic. New construction should provide 29 723 dwellings (47.0%; 29 250 and 473 dwellings in residential and non-residential buildings, respectively). Renewals and enhancements resulting in dwellings should be provide 6 049 dwellings (9.6%; 4 751 in residential buildings and 1 298 in non-residential buildings). Total 35 772 new dwellings. The other renewals and enhancements (i.e. those that do not produce new dwellings) should result in 27 529 reconstructed dwellings (43.5%).
The planning and building control authorities permitted the construction of buildings with floor space 7 487 040 m2 (+ 12.7%), of which 3 925 770 m2 was in residential buildings (+ 3.5%) and 3 561 270 m2 in non-residential buildings (+ 24.9%). A floor space of 6 983 621 m2 was obtained in new constructions and 503 419 m2 by renewals and enhancements.
The approximate value of the constructions, for the commencement of which the planning and building control authorities granted building permits by the end of October, amounts to CZK 296 351 million at current prices, which translates into an increase of CZK 24 116 million on the corresponding period of 2005.
A total of CZK 194 735 million (an increase of CZK 26 537 million year-on-year, i.e. + 15.8%) should be spent on construction of buildings, of which CZK 91 638 million on residential buildings (by CZK 9 298 million more) and CZK 103 097 million on non-residential ones (+ CZK 17 239 million).
A total of CZK 22 228 million should be invested in constructions for environmental protection - i.e. by CZK 2 108 million less than in the corresponding period of 2005.
The approximate value for the other constructions amounts to CZK 79 388 million - a decrease of CZK 313 million on the corresponding period of 2005.
