Between the beginning of January and the end of November 2006 the planning and building control authorities granted a total of 123 950 building permits on the territory of the Czech Republic, which is 7 346 permits down on the corresponding period of 2005.
There were 68 486 building permits granted for buildings in total (i.e. + 432 year-on-year) of which residential buildings accounted for 45 964 permits (+ 1 616) and non-residential buildings for 22 522 ( 1 184).
The number of building permits granted for constructions for environmental protections was 23 488 which translates into a decrease of 7 363.
The number of building permits granted for other constructions amounted to 31 976, which is by 415 less than in the corresponding period of 2005.
Of the total 123 950 building permits, 64 953 was granted for new construction (52.4%) and 58 997 for renewals and enhancements (47.6%).
Territorially, rather high investment activities are expected in the Středočeský Region (18.4%), Jihomoravský Region (13.6%) and the Moravskoslezský Region (8.6%), which is in contrast to the lowest construction activities expected in the Karlovarský Region (2.9%), the Liberecký Region (3.6%) and Pardubický Region (4.2%).
There were 45 964 building permits granted for residential buildings: 16 992 of them for new construction and 28 972 for renewals and enhancements. Most of them were granted in the Středočeský Region (17.8%), the Jihomoravský Region (13.5%) and the Moravskoslezský Region (9.3%). 6 630 building permits issued on the territory of the capital city of Prague make up 14.4%, of which 3.1% account for new construction. 63.0% of the building permits granted of the total comes under renewals and enhancements.
The buildings, which were given a go-ahead for the start of construction from January till November, are supposed to provide 69 822 dwellings throughout the Czech Republic. New construction should provide 32 823 dwellings (47.0%; 32 214 and 609 dwellings in residential and non-residential buildings, respectively). Renewals and enhancements resulting in dwellings should be provide 6 596 dwellings (9.4%; 5 172 in residential buildings and 1 424 in non-residential buildings). Total 39 419 new dwellings. The other renewals and enhancements (i.e. those that do not produce new dwellings) should result in 30 403 reconstructed dwellings (43.5%).
The planning and building control authorities permitted the construction of buildings with floor space 8 149 432 m2 (+ 0.8%), of which 4 318 504 m2 was in residential buildings (+ 5.9%) and 3 830 928 m2 in non-residential buildings (+ 16.9%). A floor space of 7 593 794 m2 was obtained in new constructions and 555 638 m2 by renewals and enhancements.
The approximate value of the constructions, for the commencement of which the planning and building control authorities granted building permits by the end of November, amounts to CZK 326 264 million at current prices, which translates into an increase of CZK 23 674 million on the corresponding period of 2005.
A total of CZK 213 789 million (an increase of CZK 24 162 million year-on-year, i.e. + 12.7%) should be spent on construction of buildings, of which CZK 100 953 million on residential buildings (by CZK 12 007 million more) and CZK 112 836 million on non-residential ones (+ CZK 12 155 million).
A total of CZK 23 975 million should be invested in constructions for environmental protection - i.e. by CZK 2 701 million less than in the corresponding period of 2005.
The approximate value for the other constructions amounts to CZK 88 500 million - an increase of CZK 313 million on the corresponding period of 2005.
