Energy Intensiveness of the Manufacture of Selected Products

Methodology

Contents

Under the term consumption of fuels and energy for production of selected products is understood final consumption of fuels, heat and power before they are brought to appliances in which comes to the exploitation of their final useful effect so that another kind of registered fuels and energy kind no more arises, with exception of secondary energy sources.

From the final consumption of fuels and energy are excluded charges into the energy process and direct operational consumption of the energy process.

TABLE OF PRODUCTS - ITEMS

1st row
    - Product´s title
      - Energy code - is identical with the code used for products of the industrial statistics department no. 3120 CSO relating to statistical reports Prům P 2 - 12 and Prům P 3 - 12 valid for the period 1985-1993. (It is based on JKPOV and in connection with the transformation to the OECD/IEA/EU statistics in future, codes SKP will be used in full extent, taking in account the needs following from this statistics).
        - Specific unit - S P U - physical specific unit for a product´s production (t, m3, th. m2, th. m3, m3 a.a = m3 absolute alcohol etc.)
    - Code of industry 95 outgoes from SKP; eg. the first six digits form actually SKP code appearing with items lacking Prům. 1995 code. Classification of products in the industrial sstatistics department underwent annual changes in the period 1996 - 1998.

2nd row: Production
    - Total annual production of a product measured in specific physical unit MFJ.

3rd and 4th row: Consumption of electricity
    - Total consumption - total annual electricity consumption (MWh)
    - Specific consumption - eg. total consumption/production; calculated from Mwh to kWh/MFJ
5th and 6th row: Consumption of heat
    - Total consumption - Total annual consumption of heat (GJ)
    - Specific consumption - eg. total consumption/production (GJ/MFJ)

7th and 8th row: Consumption of fuels
    - Overall consumption - Annual total consumption of fuels (GJ)
    - Specific consumption - eg. overall consumption/production (GJ/SPU)

9th and 10th row: Occurence of secondary energy sources
    - Emergence of utilizable waste heat from the energy viewpoint arising during production process, total (/GJ)

    - Emergence of utilizable secondary fuels from the energy viewpoint arising during production process, total (GJ) - (for instance top gas or nitrogen rich gas, biogas, combustible wastes etc.)

11th and 12th row: Consumption of energy, total
    - Consumption (total) - overall annual energy consumption (GJ)
    Specific consumption - eg. total consumption/production (GJ/SPU)

Explanation: SPU - Specific Physical Unit

Comment: Items relating to secondary energy sources were surveyed up to 1989 year

Explanations concerning definitions a new calculations of units with some items (bricks, roofings and fabrics) are cited on page 3.

Guiding tables for processing, eg.
Table 1: - Consumption of fuels, heat and electricity for the production of selected products - 2002 year
Table 2: - Specific consumption of fuels, heat and electricity for the production of selected products - 2002 year are shown on pages 57 and 58.
