Energy Intensiveness of the Manufacture of Selected Products

Introductory note

Contents

The publication “Energy demands of selected products production 1988 – 2000“ comprises results obtained from the processing of the statistical report EP 9 - 01 (Annual report on fuels and energy consumption for the production of selected products) in the period 1992-2001. Furthermore, data are cited from the CSO publication of the same name from 993 relating to the period 1988-1991, thus forming a series of results enabling to make comparison of energy consumption for selected products production development. For these purposes there were processed, for the period 1988-1991, data from the report E 4 -01 (Annual report on fuels and energy consumption). Data processing results concerning 1996 - 2001 were compared and given volumes of production are in conformity with data presented in the report Prům 2 - 12 of the CSO Department of Industry, Construction and Energy Statistics.
Furthermore, there is shown the time series of year-to-year indices relating to the period 1989/1988 and 2001/2000. Data concerning the period where it is not complete or not objectively comparable is not shown (mainly from the period close to 1992 or at production change).
The sample of respondents, like in 1999, was based on the Business Register run by the Czech Statistical Office (CSO) by main activity. The transformation of the national economy is associated with changes of ownership in the production sphere accompanied at the same time by changes in technology, production scope and number of producers. During the last seven years a methodology of processing, scope of files and number of respondents in partial items have undergone changes to a certain extent. The reason was to find an optimal scope and form of statistical reports EP 9 - 01 processing (in extend of c. 950 reports). That’s why values of specific energy consumption concerning some products are varying just in the period of recent years. Another reason can be seen in an increasing number of exchange relevant to persons involved in report processing in companies and with all this related number of possible errors occurred in this connection, even though unintentional ones. Mentioned – above data can be, in connection with these changes, further specified.
