Industry of the Czech Republic - Revised Figures
Introductory note | Contents |
The Industrial Statistics Section of the Czech Statistical Office revises the industrial production data obtained from monthly questionnaires regularly every year. The aim is to ensure the principal goal of short-term statistics—to provide the timeliest information on the monthly frequency of increases and decreases in the indicators of short-term statistics on the industry or to record principal changes occurring in the industry as early as possible. Of course, to meet such a goal is at some variance with getting completeness and absolute correctness of the data obtained monthly and with ensuring that all the indicators of short-term statistics calculated monthly are consistent. For this reason a total revision of the indicators published monthly is usually carried out once a year. At the same time we want to give by this revision more accurate information on the development of the key indicators monitored for the whole year.
The revision includes the implementation of the following steps:
a) application of final price indices to the calculation of sales indices,
b) adding and corrections of data obtained from respondents monthly, and
c) production of a consistent system industrial production indices—IPIs (monthly, cumulative, basic, and year-on-year IPIs).
