Industrial production in May 2007 grew by 7.5% year-on-year and by 4.7% month-on-month. Compared with the average month of the base year 2000, industrial production in May 2007 was by 66.3% higher. Year-on-year saw May higher industrial production in all of Sections: D – ‘Manufacturing‘ (+7.9%) and E – ‘Electricity, gas and water supply’ (+5.0%), while the Section C – ‘Mining and quarrying’ (-1.3%).

In May, the output of ‘Manufacturing’ increased especially in subsections: DK – ‘Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c.’ (+18.4%), DL – ‘Manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (+16.7%), DH – ‘Manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ (+16.5%), DI – ‘Manufacture of non-metallic mineral products’ (+13.7%) and DD – ‘Manufacture of wood and wood products’ (+10.9%). The most a decrease was seen in section DF – ‘Manufacture coke, refined petroleum products’ (-2.7%).

The May year-on-year IPI broken down by main industrial grouping increased most in the grouping for ‘Capital Goods’ (+11.3%).
