Industrial production in March 2007 grew by 12.7% year-on-year and by 17.1% month-on-month. Compared with the average month of the base year 2000, industrial production in March 2007 was by 77.0% higher. Year-on-year saw March higher industrial production in Sections: C – ‘Mining and quarrying’ (+6.8%) and D – ‘Manufacturing‘ (+14.2%). A drop was recording for Section E – ‘Electricity, gas and water supply’ (-4.3%).
The highest increases in ‘Manufacturing’ were reported in Subsections: DF – ‘Manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products’ (+39.2%), DL – ‘Manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (+29.0%), DI – ‘Manufacture of non-metallic mineral products’ (+28.6%), DK – ‘Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c.’ (+27.8%) and DH – ‘Manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ (+23.5%), while a decrease was seen in Subsections DA – ‘Manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco’ (-0.7%), DC – ‘Manufacture of leather and leather products’ (-7.8%) and DJ – ‘Manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products’ (-0.5%).
The March year-on-year IPI broken down by main industrial grouping increased most in the grouping for ‘Consumer Durables’ (+36.9%).
