Demographic Yearbook of Districts of the Czech Republic
Introductory note | Contents |
The Demographic Yearbook of Districts of the Czech Republic provides a comprehensive overview of the demographic development in the NUTS4 districts of the Czech Republic for the period since 1991. Current districts were established by the Act No. 36/1960 Coll., on the territorial division of the state. In the following period several municipalities were shifted between the districts and on 1st January 1996 there was established a new district Jeseník, according to the Act No. 108/1995 Coll.
The Demographic Yearbook of Districts of the Czech Republic complements the so far published and yearly updated publications – demographic yearbooks of selected towns, of administrative districts of municipalities with extended powers, and of the NUTS3 regions. This year this Yearbook is yet published along with the publication Basic Demographic Indicators for Territorial Administrative Units of the Czech Republic (1919-2005), code e-4023-06. Data in publication e-4023-06 for the period until 1991 are not adjustable for the current territorial delimitation of the districts. From the next year, the Demographic Yearbook of Districts will replace the former publication, providing the wider range of demographic indicators.
This first edition of the Yearbook is available both in printed version and on the CD-ROM. In the following years the data will be updated and disseminated in electronic form. The data of the Yearbook are also available on the website www.czso.cz.
We believe that the Yearbook will find a wide use and that the data will help the users in making decisions and pursuing activities in various spheres of social, economic and other development of the territorial units in our country. The Yearbook can also become useful for international comparisons of the territorial units. We will be thankful for any comments, which could help us improve the quality of the database and the publications to come.
