Basic Demographic Indicators for Territorial Administrative Units of the Czech Republic

Introductory note

Contents

Since the establishment of the Czechoslovakia in 1918, the Statistical office has been annually publishing the "source work" stating an extensive file of the most important demographic data. These publications called Demographic Yearbook (previously Population Stock and Flows) always stated, besides the synoptic data on the whole Czech Republic, also the table of basic demographic indicators on the regional territories. In 1919-1949 the table called Population and vital statistics contained information on natural movement of population (the divorce and dissolution in 1928-1940 were stated in separate table, in 1941-1949 were not stated at all). From 1950 the table contains also information on migration.

The focus of this publication lies on the regional units called "okres", district (see methodological notes).

The publication condenses the available data in the long-term view and provides those interested with the synoptic source of data for further use. This electronic publication extends the information published in the publication Basic Demographic Indicators of the Territorial and Administrative Units of the Czech Republic 1919–2002 (code 4023-03), further prolonged in 2003 - 2005.
