Forestry and Hunting

Introductory note

Contents

The publication Forestry and Hunting 2006 gives overall information on forestry activities and hunting management in the Czech Republic.

The publication is divided into two independent sections ‘Forestry’ and ‘Hunting’ which contain data for current year, time series, and a graphical supplement. The first section contains basic data on forestry activities for the Czech Republic in total, i.e. after grossing. The forestry data are taken from the Annual forestry questionnaires Les 8-01 completed and submitted by incorporated businesses with 20+ employees whose principal activity classifies them to CZ-NACE 02 (Forestry, logging and related service activities) and by businesses which manage forest land areas 200 hectares and over. Due to the present absence of a uniform classification of roundwood by quality (Czech State Standard ČSN, Recommended Rules) it was difficult to maintain data comparability in the table ‘Deliveries of roundwood’; we cannot guarantee full comparability with the data before 2003. Some of the data are broken down by both region and type of businesses (state-owned, private, municipal). Classification of businesses is subject to appropriate classifications and nomenclatures (e.g., CZ-NUTS, legal status, type of ownership). In the course of time there may be changes, for example, in type of ownership of businesses, which requires that the businesses be reclassified. The range of the time series depends on the data availibility. The section Forestry includes the Economic Accounts for Forestry (EAF) 2005 – semidefinitive version.
