Number of cattle as at 31 December 2007 went down by 23 thousand heads (1.6%) y-o-y, of which number of suckler cows increased by 1 thousand heads (0,9%) and number of dairy cows decreased by 10 thousand heads (2.4%). Compared with the beginning of 2nd half-year 2007 the number of cattle increased by 2.6%, of which suckler cows went down by 0.5% and number of dairy cows by 1.0%.

Milk production amounted to 2 684 mil. litres in 2007 (-0.4%) y-o-y. Average daily milk yield (17.94 l) rose by 2.8%. 94.6 calves were born per 100 cows (-0.5%) y-o-y and 86.4 calves were weaned (+0.4%) y-o-y. 8.7% of calves less than 3 month out of total calves born were lost by death
(-0.8 percentage point). Sale of cattle for slaughter went down by 0.3 thousand tonnes in live weight
(-0.2%) y-o-y.
