Number of cattle as at 30 June 2007 went down by 21 thousand heads (1.5 %) y-o-y, of which number of suckler cows by 2 thousand heads (1.5%) and number of dairy cows by 15 thousand heads (3.5 %). Compared with the beginning of 2007 the number of cattle increased by 1.0 %, of which suckler cows by 1.4 %, whereas number of dairy cows decreased by 1.4 %.
Milk production reached the level of 1 347 mil. litres in the 1st half-year (-0.6 %) y-o-y. Average daily milk yield 18.08 l rose by 3.3 %. 51.5 calves born per 100 cows (-0.9 %) y-o-y and 47.3 calves were weaned (+1.0 %) y-o-y. 8.1 % of calves less than 3 month out of total calves born were lost by death (-1.7percentage point). Sale of cattle for slaughter went down by 2 thousand tonnes in live weight (2.8 %) y-o-y.
