Number of poultry as at 30 June 2007 increased by 1 288 thousand heads (5.5 %) y-o-y., of which number of hens went up by 698 thousand (14.2 %). Compared with the beginning of the 2nd quarter 2007 the numbers of poultry increased by 0.1 %, thereof whereas number of hens went down by 10.7 %. Egg production reached 785 mil. pieces, i. e. y-o-y increase by 4.3 % in the 1st half-year 2007. The average egg laying per hen was 138.7 eggs (by 1.8 % more). Sale of eggs went up by 2.9 % and reached 583 mil. pieces. Marketability of eggs was 74.4 %. Sale of poultry for slaughter decreased by 3.2 % to 131 thousand tonnes of live weight.
