Harvest Forecast - operative report

Commentary

As at 15 October the Czech Statistical Office processed estimates of yields and harvest of permanent grassland, flax for seed and corrected estimates of maize for grain, other potatoes, industrial suger beet and fibre flax.

Up to estimates harvest of cereals (basic cereals and maize for grain but without other cereals) is awaited at the level of 7 051 thous. tonnes with average yield 4.55 t/ha. Matching final harvest 2006 it means increasing of yield by 0.35 t/ha and harvest would be higher by 679 thous. t (+ 10.7 %). Estimated harvest of maize for grain at the level of 612 thous. tonnes is up by 6 thous. tonnest (+ 1.0 %) in comparison with harvest of last year´s harvest.

The harvest of potatoes in agricultural sector is estimated at the level of 839 thous. tonnes (+ 21.2 % matching 2006) with average yield 26.28 t/ha. The harvest of other potatoes would be 705 thous. tonnes with the yield 27.52 t/ha.

Industrial sugar beet would reach the amount of 2 683 thous. tonnes and in comparison with 2006 final results is down by 455 thous. tonnes (- 14.5 %). Estimated yield 49.44 t/ha is by 2.04 t/ha lower (- 4 %) than in 2006.

For the first time in this year harvest of fodder from permanent grassland is estimated. It would reach the amount of 2 807 thous tonnes of hay with average yield 3.01 t/ha. In 2006 harvest was down by 14 thous. tonnes (- 0.5 %). Yield of flax seed is estimated at the level of 0,78 t/ha and yield of fibre flax would reach 2.72 t/ha, both are under levels of yields in 2006.
