Number of slaughtered cattle went down by 1.4% year-on-year in 2007. Cattle slaughter in total amounted to 269.7 thous. heads. This amount included 47.9% of bulls, 0.1% of bullocks, 8.1% of heifers, 41.1% of cows and 2.8% of calves. The average live weight of cattle (incl. calves) increased by 1.4% to 549.7 kg and their carcass weight went up by 1.6% to 294.2 kg year-on-year. For bulls for slaughter the average live weight went up by 1.5% to 619.8 kg and the carcass weight increased by 1.5% to 335.6 kg year -on-year.
Number of slaughtered pigs went up by 1.6% to 3.9 milion heads. This amount included 2.9% of sows and boars. The average live weight of pigs increased by 0.9% to 114.0 kg and their carcass weight went up by 0.7% to 87.8 kg.
Meat production totaled 626 297 tonnes of carcass weight in 2007. This amount included 54.4% of pig meat, 12.6% of beef, 0,1% of veal, 32.9% of poultry meat. The meat production decreased by 0.4% compared to the previous year. The production of pig meat increased by 2.4%, beef incl. veal production went up by 0,2% year-on-year. The poultry meat production saw a year-on-year decrease by 4.8%.
