According to the Livestock census as at 1.4.2006 the numbers of livestock in the main categories went down y-o-y, except for poultry, sheep, goats and horses.
Numbers of cattle decreased by 24 thousand heads y-o-y (1.7 %), of which numbers of cows total diminished by 10 thousand heads (1.7 %). Numbers of suckling cows decreased by 1.0 % to 140 thousand heads.
Numbers of pigs decreased by 36 thousand heads (1.3 %) in comparison with the same stage of the previous year, of which numbers of sows went down by 4 thousand heads (1.5 %).
Numbers of poultry went up by 364 thousand heads (1.4 %), of which hens increased by 375 thousand heads (6.3 %).
There was y-o-y increase in sheep numbers by 8 thousand heads, i.e. by more than 5.9 %.
Numbers of horses went up by 11.3 % y-o-y.
