Total production of individual crops is based on sowing areas surveyed in May and the development of vegetative conditions. Extremes of weather conditions in the year 2006 (dry and hot July and cold August) caused yields of almost all agricultural plants fell down under yields reached in the year 2005.
Production area of cereals (including grain maize and other cereals) diminished by 79,6 thous. ha (-4,9 %) to have reached 1 532,0 thous. ha. Total production of cereals was 6 386,1 thous. tonnes and matching the year 2005 decreased by 1 273,8 thous. tonnes (-16,6 %). Only the harvest of oats was above the harvest of individual cereals the in the year 2005 and reached 154,9 thous. tonnes (+2,6 %). Wheat production was at the level of 3 506,3 thous. tonnes, it means by 638,8 tonnes less (- 15,4 %) matching the year 2005. Field peas production was 71,5 thous. tonnes, matching the year 2005 by 7,2 thous. tonnes less. Total production of grain plants (cereals plus legumes) was 6 473,6 thous. tonnes, matching 2005 is by 1 282,2 thous. tonnes (-16,5%).
Total potatoes harvest including production of households gardens was 836,6 thous. tonnes, this is decrease by 319,4 thous. tonnes (-27,6 %) matching 2005. Yield of potatoes was 21,70 tonnes and it is also down by 6,35 tonnes. Early potatoes harvest reached 58,5 thous. tonnes. The average yield of “other potatoes” was 22,41 tonnes/ 1 Ha, it means by 6,4 tonnes less and also the production of 699,1 thous. tonnes is by 395,4 thous. tonnes down than in the year 2005. Sugar beet was harvested in amount of 3 138,3 thous. tonnes (3 495,6 thous. tonnes in 2005), it means decrease by 10,2 %.
In 2006 sowing areas of oleaginous plants increased totally by 38,4 thous. ha (+ 9,6 %), the total acreage was 437,9 thous. ha. Reached production from that area was 1 056,1 thous. tonnes, it means up by 97,4 thous. tonnes than in 2005. Rape harvest was 880,2 thous. tonnes, in the year 2005 it was 769,4 thous. tonnes, it means by 110,8 thous. tonnes up. Rape seed yield was 3,01 tonnes/ 1 ha and it is also up by 0,13 tonnes. The production of poppy seed was down matching 2005, from the area of 57,8 thous. ha was harvested 31,6 thous. tonnes with the average yield 0,55 tonnes/ 1 ha (36,4 thous. tonnes with the yield of 0,82 tonnes/ 1 ha were harvested in 2005).
