Generation, Recovery and Disposal of Waste

Methodology

Contents

This statistical information presents results obtained by processing statistical questionnaire
Odp 5-01 “Statistical Questionnaire on Wastes”. The population of respondents includes enterprises and sampled municipalities (classified to CZ-NACE 751). The survey taken
in enterprises and municipalities provided data on industrial and municipal wastes, respectively.

The enterprises covered by the survey employed 20+ people and their principal activity classified them to CZ-NACE divisions/groups coded 01, 02, 10-36, 38-41, 45, 502, 55, 601-602, 62, 642, 747, 7481, 851-852, 9211, and 93. Furthermore, units with 5+ employees classified to CZ-NACE 37 (Recycling) and 5157 (Wholesale of waste and scrap) and units classified to CZ-NACE 90 (Sewage and refuse disposal, sanitation and similar activities), with no limit on the number of employees, were also included in the survey.

The data given in the tables and charts were obtained by processing the aforementioned statistical questionnaire filled in by 13 485 enterprises, which translates into 88% of the total population of the survey.

Of the total of the enterprises (including construction firms since 2001, too), 387 were provided with an annex to the questionnaire to provide information on the consumption
of waste as a secondary raw material for the manufacture of chosen products.

The generation of municipal waste was established via questionnaires received from 979 municipalities sampled in all the Czech Republic. This number of reporting units stands for 94% of the basic population of the municipalities measured. The data were grossed up to cover the whole country.

For the reason of individual data protection, the detailed tables list only those kinds of waste that were reported by four or more producers. Generation, recovery and disposal of the non-reported kinds of waste are included in total volume items.
