Focus on Women and Men
3. Education | Contents |
All data on education in this chapter (with the exception of international surveys) are taken from the database of the Institute for Information on Education (IIE). Data on nursery, basic, secondary, higher professional and special schools, schools established in correctional facilities and data on teachers at universities are obtained from comprehensive surveys at schools; data on students, new enrolees and graduates from universities are from the register of university students.
Wherever the tables show shares in population, they result from the valid demography published by the CZSO.
In comparison to the previous publication, Chapter 3 – Education now includes changes resulting from the new education law. All types of schools now include also data on relevant schools for children, pupils and students with special educational needs. Wherever it was possible the data were recalculated also backwards.
Data on universities – students, for the first time newly enrolled and graduates – are for the first time mentioned in natural persons (not as the number of studies).
Until the year 1996, total data on grammar schools included extension studies and that is why in the school years 1993/94 and 1995/96 the total number of pupils in grammar schools is higher than the sum for individual types of grammar schools.
