This chapter presents basic information on enterprises, whose principal activity classifies them to the following CZ-NACE divisions:
65 | Financial intermediation except insurance and pension funding | 66 | Insurance and pension funding, except compulsory social security | 67 | Activities auxiliary to financial intermediation | 70 | Real estate activities | 71 | Renting of machinery and equipment without operator and of personal and household goods | 72 | Computer and related activities | 73 | Research and development | 74 | Other business activities | 75 | Public administration and defence; compulsory social security | 80 | Education | 85 | Health and social work | 90 | Sewage and refuse disposal, sanitation and similar activities | 91 | Activities of membership organizations | 92 | Recreational, cultural and sporting activities | 93 | Other service activities |
The data included in this chapter were obtained in annual surveys in general; however, information provided by quarterly surveys was used for some financial intermediation indicators. The statistical surveys taken in enterprises with financial intermediation as their principal activity (CZ-NACE 65 to 67) are exhaustive surveys and cover all incorporated entities irrespective of the number of employees. In industries referred to as market services (CZ-NACE 70 to 93), data on enterprises with 50+ employees are usually obtained by exhaustive surveys, while enterprises with fewer employees are sample surveyed. Notes on tables Table 20-1. Basic indicators of financial banking institutions Some financial indicators on institutions classified to CZ-NACE 65.1 are given. The institutions include commercial banks including savings banks. The data also include the Czech National Bank. The financial indicators are defined with reference to the chart of accounts for banks. Table 20-2. Basic indicators of financial non-banking institutions Information characterizing incorporated enterprises classified to CZ-NACE 65.2 and 67 is given. It particularly covers investment funds, investment companies, financial leasing companies, factoring companies, stockbrokers, insurance brokers, financial consultancy and other financial non-banking institutions. These entities keep accounts according to the chart of accounts for businessmen. Table 20-3. Basic indicators of insurance institutions Included in this table is information on enterprises classified to CZ-NACE 66.01 and 66.03 - i.e. insurance companies specialized in life insurance, various kinds of non-life insurance, or combined insurance companies (providing life and non-life insurance). The financial indicators are defined according to the chart of accounts for insurance companies. Table 20-4. Basic indicators of pension funds Pension funds providing supplementary pension insurance (with contribution from the state) are classified to CZ-NACE 66.02 and keep their accounts according to the chart accounts for businessmen. Table 20-5. Tangible fixed assets financially leased: basic indicators, by CZ-NACE The table shows aggregated data on tangible fixed assets acquired on financial leasing, broken down by CZ-NACE activity. The data were obtained from an exhaustive annual survey on the volume of tangible fixed assets leased by leasing companies or other companies also engaged in financial leasing. Tables 20-6. to 20-11. Market services These tables list basic indicators for entities classified to CZ-NACE 70 to 93 activities (sometimes referred to as market services or other market services). They cover incorporated legal persons as well as natural persons running business under trade or other licence. Included in market services are only entities whose aim is to make profit (non-financial enterprises and unincorporated natural persons); a considerable part of entities classified to these industries (especially education, health service, research and development, public administration, culture, etc.) belong to the non-business sphere (government departments, semi-subsidized organizations partially financed from state and local budgets, and non-profit organizations). Data characterizing this sphere of the economy can be found in other chapters of the Yearbook. Financial indicators, employment indicators and sales indicators are defined in Chapters 10. Labour, 16A. Industry, and 18. Trade, Hotels and Restaurants, Tourism, respectively. In 2000, the methodology of other market services was amended - the data on housing cooperatives and cooperatives of owners of dwellings and houses ceased to be measured.
The time series of the basic indicators is not fully comparable. Since the year 2000, available administrative sources have been used to identify activities of enterprises. This resulted in changes in the indicator values published before. * * *
