Patents and licences
In 2025, a total of 5,197 patents were granted or validated by the Industrial Property Office of the Czech Republic (IPO CR) for the territory of our republic to Czech and foreign entities. Foreign applicants owned 93,5 % of them, Czech entities accounted for the remaining 6,5 %, i.e. 336 patents. In 2024, there were a total of 172 subject in the Czech Republic that provided a license for one of the industrial property protections, that is, for a patent, utility model or industrial design. The total number of licenses valid for these types of protection in 2024 was 916, and providers collected more than 4.7 billion crowns in fees for them.
