The population includes citizens of the Czech Republic and foreigners who have a permanent residence in the Czech Republic, foreigners from third countries with visas for a stay of more than 90 days or with a long-term residence permit, citizens of EU countries, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and their family members with reported temporary residence and foreigners with granted asylum. From 2022, the population includes persons granted temporary protection in the Czech Republic with habitual residence in the Czech Republic. Data on the number of inhabitants of individual territorial units are based on the census of people, houses and flats (last census as of 26/03/2021), which are then continuously followed up by annual balances of births, deaths, immigrants and emigrants.
The average monthly nominal wage of an employee includes all income from work (basic wages and salaries, payments additional to wage or salary as personal bonuses, bonuses and rewards, shares in company profit, and compensations for wages and salaries), which is accounted to the registered number of employees according to effective regulations on wages and salaries. The wage is calculated to the whole national economy and therefore it involves data for all employees, who work in the region. It is given to full-time equivalent employees and thus takes into account the working hours of the employees.
Registered businesses are entities kept in the Register of Economic Entities created and managed by the CZSO. Legal entities are registered in it, including organizational units of the state and natural persons who have the status of an entrepreneur. Entities are divided into territories according to the address of their registered office.
The general unemployment rate is a share (as percentage) of the number of the unemployed in the total labour force. The ratio is built the way the numerator and denominator in the ratio are indicators defined in the Eurostat methodology that has been developed based on definitions and recommendations of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The general unemployment rate is obtained from results of the Labour Force Sample Survey (LFSS). The survey covers all persons having usual residence in a selected dwelling with no regard to which type their stay in there is. The quarterly sample (approximately 0.6% of all permanently occupied dwellings) includes about 25 thousand randomly selected and surveyed dwellings in the territory of the whole Czech Republic. The value published is for the age group 15-64 years and is seasonally adjusted.
Gross domestic product it is a set of values added of individual institutional sectors or individual industries in activities considered by the ESA to be productive (i.e. including both market and non-market services) and net taxes on products (it is thus expressed in purchase prices). From the point of view of use, the GDP is equal to the sum of final consumption (of households, general government, and non-profit institutions serving households), gross capital formation (fixed capital, balance of inventories, and acquisitions less disposals of valuables), and the external trade balance. It is stated in current prices per capita at the middle of the reference period.
Increase (or decrease) of GDP shows by how many % it increased (or decreased) in real terms during surveyed year against of the previous year. To exclude the effect of price changes, GDP is converted to a comparable price level (to the prices of the previous year).
Gross fixed capital formation includes the value of acquisition of both tangible and intangible fixed assets (purchased, acquired free of charge, or produced by own activities), minus the value of their sale and the value of assets handed over free of charge. It also includes acquisition in the form of financial leasing. The target of the acquisition is always to use the fixed assets for a productive activity including housing in the dwelling of its owner. Only assets used in production for a period longer than one year are fixed capital. It also includes e.g. equipment for military purposes, research and development expenditure, and the like.

Disposable income results from the generation and distribution of income and it is the balancing item of the secondary distribution of income account.

2025, quarter 4 206,136 Publication date: 09. 02. 2026 Guests in an collective accommodation establishments are all persons (including children and excluding operating personnel and owners of the accommodation establishment) who have used services of the accommodation establishment for their temporary accommodation. Persons that use an accommodation establishment for their temporary accommodation for the purpose of employment or full-time studies are not included. The length of the temporary accommodation must not exceed 1 year for the guest to be considered a tourist. Collective accommodation establishments are establishments with at least five rooms and at the same time ten beds that on a regular (or irregular) basis provide guests (including children) with temporary accommodation for a holiday, a tour, a spa treatment, a business trip, a training, a course, a congress, a symposium, stays of children at schools in nature, and in summer and winter holiday camps. The collective accommodation establishments include hotels, boarding houses, hostels, holiday dwellings, campsites, and other accommodation establishments.

Publication date: 08. 09. 2025 The construction work "S" (according to delivery contracts) represents the total value of own outputs of construction activities of the reporting unit (including built-in materials) implemented on the basis of a delivery contract for the end user (building investor), including the value of potential subdeliveries of construction work received from other sub-contractors in order to implement the delivery contract for the end user.
Dwellings completed are dwellings (located) in new buildings that have been allocated a description/registration house number or newly completed dwellings in already existing buildings. The dwelling means a room or a set of rooms that had been determined for residential use by a decision of the planning and building control authority and that may serve that purpose as independent dwelling units (housing units).
Children in nursery schools are children enrolled in the register of nursery schools that have their headquarters in the Region. It usually applies to children aged 3 to 6 years, but not younger than 2 years. From the beginning of the school year following the day on which the child reaches the age of five years until the child starts its compulsory school education, early childhood education is compulsory. The numbers of children are reported as at 30 September of the given school year. The Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports is the data source.
Pupils in basic schools are pupils enrolled in basic schools, in which they earn their compulsory school education that lasts 9 years. Pursuant to the law, children start their compulsory school education at the age of six (or at the age of eight at the latest in case of children with postponed compulsory school education). Primary education for pupils with special education needs who are educated in classes or schools with a modified education programme may last ten years. It does not include pupils who complete their compulsory school education in lower grades of multi-year grammar schools and in lower grades of an eight-year specialism of dance in conservatoires, to which they leave after they complete their 5th or 7th grade of basic school. The numbers of pupils are reported as at 30 September of the given school year. The Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports is the data source.
Pension recipients, total are persons who, in December of the relevant year, received some type of pension under the Act on Pension Insurance (data relating to the armed forces of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Justice are not included). It applies to recipients of a full old-age pension (regular or early (premature)), a proportional old-age pension (if the required period of insurance has not been met), a disability pension for the first degree disability (ability to work was reduced by 35 to 49% due to long-term bad health), the second degree disability (a decrease of 50 to 69%), and the third degree disability (a decrease of 70% and more), a widow’s/widower’s pension or an orphan pension.
The average monthly full old-age pension (single pension) is the full old-age pension paid in December of the relevant year, excluding proportional old-age pensions and pensions paid simultaneously with a survivor’s pension (widow’s or widower’s pensions).
Municipal waste generation per capita includes household waste and waste similar in nature and composition that is comparable to household waste (e.g., waste from retail trade, selected services, small businesses, schools, hospitals, office buildings, and the like). The exception is waste from production and waste from agriculture that was produced in households. The data have been converted to per capita for the Region (mid-year population). Due to a change in the methodology, comparable data prior to 2017 are not available.
