Territorial structure by population

The basic unit for evaluating the development of the territorial structure is the municipality and the number of inhabitants who have registered residence in the relevant municipality (permanent, long-term or granted temporary protection), regardless of nationality. Of the total number of 6,258 municipalities, 22% of the municipalities had less than 200 inhabitants as of 31/12/2022, but only 1.6% of the population lived in them. Conversely, over 22% of the Czech population lived in 6 cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants.
