R&D expenditure | Regions

In 2023, was CZK 139.7 billion spent on research and development in the Czech Republic. The share of R&D expenditure in GDP was 1.83%. The EU average is around 2.3% of GDP for several years. The highest amount of money for R&D was financed from business sources, it was almost CZK 88 billion. Business resources account for more than 60% of R&D expenditures in Czechia. CZK 41.8 billion was provided for R&D from government national sources and CZK 8.3 billion from government foreign sources consisting mainly of EU subsidies.
