Employment and wages of women and men

The employment rate of women has long lagged behind that of men, but the gap is gradually decreasing; in 2022, it reached 66.7% among men over the age of 15 in the Czech Republic, while it was 15.9 percentage points lower among women. Almost 16% of employed men and less than a tenth of women worked on their own account. The general unemployment rate for women in 2022 was 2.8% and for men 1.8%. The median gross monthly wage of women (34.6 thousand CZK) was 5.4 thousand CZK lower than that of men.
