In 2022, the number of live births stood at 101.3 thousand, 10.5 thousand fewer than in 2021. The decline in the number of births went hand in hand with a decrease in total fertility rate to 1.63 children per woman. The average age of mothers at birth of the first child increased by 0.9 to 28.8 years over the last ten years.
