Information technologies - Reports on quality
EU Member States provide the Commission (Eurostat) with reports on the quality of data transmitted on the base of Article 12 – Statistical quality of the Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 on European statistics (which was amended by Regulation (EU) No 2015/759).
Usage of information and communications technologies in households and by individuals
Specific quality requirements are laid down in sectoral legislation, namely in the Regulation (EU) No 2019/1700 establishing a common framework for European statistics relating to persons and households, based on data at individual level collected from samples. Up to 2020 (including), the quality requirements were regulated by Regulation (EC) No 808/2004 concerning Community statistics on the information society. For all relevant legislation, see the list of legislation by Eurostat.
Since 2021 quality reports are sent via standard Eurostat tool Metadata Handler and available via standard web-link on Eurostat web. Since 2022 they are provided in the standard SIMS structure. Older reports were sent by email and published on CIRCA by Eurostat.
Usage of information and communications technologies in enterprises
Specific quality requirements are laid down in sectoral legislation, namely in the Regulation (EU) No 2019/2152 on European business statistics; and in relevant annual implementing regulations, which set out the technical specifications of the data requirements and the deadlines for reporting metadata and quality for the theme 'use of information and communications technologies and e-commerce' for the relevant reference year (see the list of legislation by Eurostat).
Quality reports are provided via Eurostat's standard Metadata Handler tool: since 2022 in the standard SIMS structure, until 2021 in the ESQRS structure (the Flow INFOSOC_ESQRSET_A). The most recent quality report is always available via a standard link on the Eurostat website.
