Hunting

The total area of hunting grounds was 6 887 961 hectares (as of 1 April 2025). The number of persons permanently executing hunting rights on hunting grounds increased slightly to 88 694. The number of dogs with hunting qualification was 29 352. In the period 2025/2026, record-breaking numbers of shot fallow deer (53 494 heads), roe deer (139 260 heads) and wild boar (273 275 heads) were recorded. By contrast, the number of hares shot (25 924 heads) was at a record low.
