Government budget allocations for R&D
40.0 billion crowns were spent on research and development from the government budget in 2024, which represented 0.50% of GDP. This is the lowest share since 2008. Government budget on research and development increased by 2.6% year-on-year. The government budget participate 27% to the financing of research and development. The most important provider of state support has long been the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, which in 2024 supported research and development in the amount of 16.8 billion crowns. Among the recipients of state support for R&D, public universities dominate, having been allocated 18.2 billion CZK from public funds for R&D in 2024.
