Employment and wages of women and men

The employment rate of women has long lagged behind that of men, but the gap is gradually decreasing; in 2024, it reached 66.6% among men over the age of 15 in the Czech Republic, while it was 14.7 percentage points lower among women. Approximately 16% of employed men and less than a tenth of women worked on their own account. The general unemployment rate for women in 2024 was 3.0% and for men 2.2%. The median gross monthly wage of women (38.7 thousand CZK in 2024) was 6.1 thousand CZK lower than that of men.
