Employment and wages of women and men

The employment rate of women has long lagged behind that of men, but the gap is gradually decreasing; in 2025, it reached 65.6% among men over the age of 15 in the Czech Republic, while it was 12.3 percentage points lower among women. Approximately 16% of employed men and less than a tenth of women worked on their own account. The general unemployment rate for women in 2025 was 3.1% and for men 2.5%. The median gross monthly wage of women (41.1 thousand CZK in 2025) was 6.6 thousand CZK lower than that of men.
