Economic activity (status) of foreigners

As at 31 December 2024, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs recorded 845,468 employment relationships involving foreigners in the status of employees, 21,523 more than in the previous year. More than a third (36%) of these employment relations were held by citizens of Ukraine (304,684) and a quarter by Slovak citizens (215,611). As at the same date, the Ministry of Industry and Trade registered 131,738 foreigners with valid trade licenses (13,355 more than in the previous year). One-third of them were Ukrainian citizens (43,305), one-fifth were Slovak citizens (25,817), and 16% were Vietnamese citizens (21,145).
