NUMERI PRAGENSES 2003 - Statistická ročenka hl.m. Prahy
Preface
This is the third year already, in which unified regional statistical yearbooks produced by the Regional Offices of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) are presented to the public. The contents of the yearbooks follow up the nationwide statistical yearbook prepared by the CZSO headquarters. The data released refer to the period of 2000-2002 in general. The time series of some indicators start in the year 1990, though.. All the data are consistently converted to conform to the valid regional classification CZ-NUTS3 (14 regions).
The regional yearbooks do not differ in their contents a great deal from the ones published the previous year. Some adjustments were made to add data from new ad hoc surveys as in previous years (in this year it concerns especially another portion of the data from the Census 2001, information about the sample surveys, information about the selected survey on the households social situation, construction companies census, and things like that). The majority of the other chapters were completed with the new views, as well. It concerns particularly the chapter No.13 where you can find a series of information on the administrative districts having delegated competences and city sections. Completely new is the subchapter “Research and development“. It contains basic information on research and development in conformity with the classification CZ-Nuts. And vice versa the already published data from finished surveys were left out. In some cases the chapters were contracted with the respect to the limitation of the regional outputs from the selected statistical surveys. The basic data sources the yearbooks drew on were the ones of the Czech Statistical Office. Used were also the data available at other departments such as the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the CR, the Ministry of the Interior of the CR, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the CR (the Institute of Information on Education), and the Ministry of Health of the CR (the Institute of Health Information and Statistics) in particular. A considerable portion of the published data is taken over from the regional databases KROK (regions and districts) and MOS (towns and municipalities).
The yearbooks are except for the printed form also in electronic form and on CD-ROM available. You can find them also on the CZSO website (www.praha.czso.cz). After a two-year experience with the users interest we are convinced that these publications begin to be a requested information source and we hope that this interest will continue.
We want to say a word of thanks to all the authors and colleagues for their effort and time they devoted to prepare this publication.
