Territorial structure by population - methodology

The number of inhabitants of the relevant territorial unit at a certain point in time is processed by the CZSO on the basis of the results of the population, house and apartment census and the annual balance of demographic events. All data relate to all residents who have a permanent residence in this territory, regardless of citizenship, and foreigners with a long-term stay in the territory of the Czech Republic and, from 2022, also persons granted temporary protection in the Czech Republic who have applied for its extension.
