Under the chairmanship of Mr Marek Rojíček, the President of the Czech Statistical Office, the fifth meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics under the Czech Presidency took place on 25 November 2022.
The main topic on the agenda was the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EU) No 691/2011 as regards introducing new environmental economic accounts modules. The delegations continued discussing draft compromise texts for Annex VIII for environmental subsidies and similar transfers accounts and Annex IX for ecosystem accounts. Additionally, the Presidency presented the first compromise text regarding Annex VII for forest accounts and the second compromise proposal for the main act.
The Chair of the WP, Mr Rojíček then advised the delegations about the legislative progress regarding the ESA 2010 and the SAIO files. As for the ESA 2010 file, the Czech Presidency intends to go to Coreper for endorsement on 30 November. The SAIO file should be published in the Official Journal of the European Union soon. In addition, the Chair highlighted two other non-statistical files that might be interesting to follow, namely the Proposal for a Regulation on nature restoration and the Proposal for a Regulation on data collection and sharing relating to short-term accommodation rental services and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1724.
The next meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics is scheduled for Friday, 9 December 2022.
