Producer price indices - 2nd quarter of 2011

Compared to Q1 2011, agricultural producer prices grew by 4.1% in Q2 2011. Prices of crop products and animal products increased by 5.2% and 2.8%, respectively. The growth was recorded in prices of oil plants, fruit, cereals and potatoes (+1.7%, +7.0%, +8.8% and +10.4%, respectively). The prices of vegetables markedly decreased (-37.8%). Among animal products price increases were recorded in pigs for slaughter (+6.2%), poultry (+4.5%), milk (+1.5%) and cattle for slaughter (+0.9%). Prices of eggs decreased by 6.1%.
Prices of agricultural producers in Q2 2011 compared to Q2 2010 were 30.2% higher. The price growth came mainly from crop products (+52.6%); prices of animal products grew by 7.9%. Higher prices in crop products were mainly affected by prices of cereals (+83.7%) and potatoes (+64.4%). On the increase were prices of oil plants (+53.0%) and fruit (+36.0%). In contrast, prices of vegetables fell (-8.3%). Prices of animal products were higher due to price growth of milk (+14.1%), poultry (+10.4%), cattle for slaughter (+3.7%) and pigs for slaughter (+3.6%). Prices of eggs were 24.8% down.

In the second quarter of 2011, compared to the previous quarter, industrial producer prices increased by 1.9%. Prices went up primarily in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+7.4%), ‘mining and quarrying’ (+5.7%), ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+3.4% both). Prices went up particularly in ‘electrical equipment’ (+0.9%) and ‘basic pharmaceutical products’ (-0.8%).

Prices of industrial producer increased by 6.0% in the second quarter of 2011 (+5.4% in the first quarter of 2011), year-on-year. Prices rose in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ by 21.9% (a downward tendency from April to June: +26.5%, +21.7% and +17.7%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ by 10.9% (in the individual months: +13.2%, 11.6% and +8.1%). Prices went up in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ by 9.3% (+8.1%, +9.9% and +10.0%). Prices fell in ‘transport equipment’ (-3.3%) and ‘computer, electronic and optical products’ (-3.4%).

According to an estimate, construction work prices in Q2 2011 compared to Q1 2011 were 0.1% lower; prices of construction material input increased by 0.7%.
According to an estimate, construction work prices in Q2 2011 compared to the corresponding period of 2010 decreased by 0.4%, prices of construction material input increased by 3.1%.

In comparison to Q1 2011, prices of market services increased by 1.8% in Q2 2011. Higher were mainly prices of advertising and market research services (+17.0%). On the increase were prices in freight transport services (+0.8%), computer programming, consultancy (+0.6%) and postal and courier services (+0.5%). Lower prices were recorded in architectural and engineering services (-0.5%) and rental and leasing services (-2.2%). Prices of market services excluding advertising services increase by 0.1%.
In Q2 2011, prices of market services grew by 1.1% in total compared to Q2 2010. Price increases were recorded mainly for advertising and market research services (+7.3%), freight transport services (+1.9%), financial intermediation, except insurance (+2.4%) and postal and courier services (+3.6%). On the decrease were prices in rental and leasing services (-6.0%) and insurance services (-2.4%). Prices of market services excluding advertising services increase by 1.0%.
