City sections of Prague

City sections

As shown in the introduction to the previous chapter, the administrative structure of the Capital City of Prague includes:
  • the Capital City of Prague (region, municipality),
  • twenty-too administrative districts (authorised city section offices entrusted with particular powers as stipulated by the law or the Statute of the Capital City of Prague),
  • fifty-seven city sections – “municipalities” in the sense of the Act on Municipalities, in the cope Act No. 131/2000 Coll.

This chapter presents basic data on all of the fifty-seven city sections. The tables designated as “Basic information” show data for individual city sections within the whole City. This arrangement will make it possible for users to compare the city sections with the help of the same indicators. Data on "Buildings and dwellings: 31 December 2008" are taken from the Register of Statistical Units.

City sections’ ranking is based on their belonging to the superior administrative district. As of November 1, 2007 the delegated competency for the city section of Prague-Čakovice is exercised by Prague 18 (administrative district), therefore the city section is included to that district.

An integral overview of the individual city sections is contained in the following part of this chapter. Each city section is devoted a separate spread summarizing all basic data.
