All data on education in this chapter (with the exception of international surveys) are taken from the database of the Institute for information on education (IIE). Data on nursery, basic, secondary, higher professional and special schools, schools established in correctional facilities and data on teachers at universities are obtained from comprehensive surveys at schools; data on students (new entrants and graduates from universities) are from the register of university students.

Wherever the tables show shares in population, they result from the valid demography published by the CZSO.

Grammar schools – data include sports schools.

Secondary technical schools – data include performing arts schools.

Secondary vocational schools – data include vocational schools.

Schools established at correctional facilities – schools in facilities for institutional and protective upbringing.

Special secondary schools – special grammar schools, secondary technical schools, performing arts schools and secondary vocational schools.

Schools for mentally handicapped children – including rehabilitation classes and preparatory grade.
